Hello! I’m Mark Stephen, a proud farmer from Aliki along the beautiful Essequibo River in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled in the heart of our lush landscapes, my days are filled with cultivating a variety of crops that not only nourish my family but also connect us to the rich agricultural heritage of our land. From the sweet taste of ripe cassava to the vibrant colors of our local fruits, each harvest reflects the flavors and traditions that are deeply rooted in Guyanese culture.
Though Guyana may not be geographically part of the Caribbean, our cultural bonds are strong. I often find joy in sharing stories of our vibrant festivals, like Mashramani and Phagwah, which bring together our diverse communities. It’s a reminder of the warmth and resilience of our people, whether we’re in Guyana or part of the thriving diaspora around the world.
