Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my home is a place where the dazzling colors of the landscape inspire my work. I draw my artistic energy from the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, influenced by our diverse communities, mouthwatering dishes like pepperpot and roti, and the warmth of our people. As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I find myself deeply connected to my roots even while navigating life abroad. It’s not uncommon for tears to flow when I reminisce about the simple joys of home, whether it’s savoring a plate of cook-up rice or feeling the rhythm of our local music. My art is a tribute to our history and resilience, echoing the voices of those who have left and those who remain, reminding me of the stories that bind us together, regardless of where we are.
