Hello! My name is Merice Ramchan, and I’m proud to call Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up here, I learned to cherish our vibrant culture, from the lively sounds of chutney music to the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot and roti that bring our community together. Whether it’s enjoying a local cook-up or celebrating Mashramani, the spirit of Guyana is always alive in my heart.
As a resident deeply connected to my roots, I understand the struggles and triumphs of our people, both here and in the diaspora. I often reflect on the comments from those who have traveled to our homeland, noting how many express surprise at the warmth and resilience of our communities, like those from Lower Pomeroon and River Grant. It’s a reminder that, despite the challenges, we stand united and proud of our identity.
In everything I do, I strive to promote the beauty of Guyana and foster connections among those who have left our shores.
