Hello! I’m Michelle Garraway, a proud resident of the beautiful Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My heart beats to the rhythm of our vibrant culture, rich history, and the lush landscapes that surround us. Growing up here, I’ve learned the importance of our culinary traditions—there’s nothing quite like a hearty plate of pepperpot or the delightful flavors of a good curry, especially when shared with family and friends. And yes, we call it balangae, not eggplant!
Living in Pomeroon, I cherish the stories shared by both locals and those in the diaspora. It’s uplifting to see how connected we are, whether it’s through our shared experiences in the history of indentured labor or our love for cricket and our diverse food scene. Manatees in the rivers remind me of the beauty of our wildlife, while the warmth of our people truly brings to life the rich heritage of our land.
