Hello! My name is Mohamed Sattaur, and I am proud to call Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up amidst the lush green landscapes and vibrant communities, I have always cherished the warmth of my neighbors and the rich cultural heritage that surrounds us. From the fragrant aroma of curry in the air to the rhythmic beats of our local music, every day in Guyana offers an experience that is truly unique. Although I work as a labourer, my heart lies in sharing the beauty of our land, especially the stunning interior and the spirit of our people.
The experience of living in Georgetown during the early 90s shaped my understanding of resilience and hope. Despite the challenges we faced, I remember the laughter of children playing in the streets and the colorful festivals that brought us all together. I still hold fond memories of sipping on fresh coconut water and enjoying our beloved national dish, pepperpot, with family and friends. It is these moments that inspire me to connect with the Guyanese diaspora, reminding us all of where we come from and the bonds that hold us together, no matter where we are in the world.
As I look towards the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Guyana, especially with the recent developments in our oil industry. However, my heart remains in the simple joys of life in Anna Regina—the vibrant markets, the sound of the Pomeroon River flowing, and the rich heritage we carry. I invite all who share a connection to our beautiful land to celebrate our culture, share our stories, and keep the spirit of Guyana alive wherever we may roam.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
