Greetings! I’m Monica Fredericks-Abr, a passionate teacher residing in the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically in the vibrant Phase Two of Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a proud Guyanese, my heart beats for our culinary delights! Nothing brings back fond memories quite like enjoying a hearty plate of pepper pot with cassava bread on Christmas morning, a dish that encapsulates the warmth of our culture. I often reminisce about gatherings with friends and family over a warm, spicy dish of dahl puri, reminding us that food truly is a connector in our vibrant society. I believe these moments are what make us who we are—one people, one nation.
In my role as an educator, I am committed to nurturing both academic and cultural awareness among my students. I strive to create an inclusive space where each child can celebrate their heritage, while also understanding the importance of preserving our environment, particularly concerning issues like littering in our waterways.
