Hello! My name is Monica Seewah, and I’m a proud seamstress based in the heart of Guyana, specifically at 17 Public Road Reliance in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I’ve always found inspiration in the rich traditions of my homeland. From the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, where many of my fondest memories were created, to the aromatic flavors of local dishes like metemgee and pepperpot, my culture continuously fuels my passion for sewing and design.
As a seamstress, my work reflects the unique essence of Guyanese life. I often incorporate vibrant fabrics that symbolize our diverse heritage, celebrating the blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences that define our nation. I cherish the connections I have made within the local community and with the Guyanese diaspora. It’s heartwarming to see how our stories and experiences resonate, whether it’s through conversations about the challenges we face or the hope for change and improvement in our society.
