From the lush banks of the Pomeroon River where I often find solace, to the bustling streets of Georgetown where my grandfather once contributed to the architectural landscape, my roots run deep in this land.
Growing up, I was surrounded by the flavors of our unique cuisine—be it the spicy pepperpot during the festive season or the delightful cook-up rice on ordinary days. These meals not only nourish the body but also bring families together, reminding us that no matter where we find ourselves, home is where the heart is. For those in the diaspora, I often hear stories that resonate deeply, like the ones shared by fellow Guyanese about their experiences abroad, their love for our rivers, like the Kalm Watta Creek and Kabakaburi, and their dreams of returning to help revive the economy.
