Growing up surrounded by the vibrant greenery of our rice and cassava fields, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the land and its bountiful offerings. Many friends and family members have ventured abroad, particularly to places like New York, seeking opportunities while carrying the essence of Guyanese culture with them. We often reminisce about the simple joys of home—sharing pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying a Sunday cook-up rice with fresh fish from the nearby Pomeroon River. These memories fuel my passion for farming and remind me of our shared identity, regardless of where we are in the world.

Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
