About MURIEL WILLIAMS

About Muriel Williams

Greetings from Pom. River Grant Bailes Hope, where the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region cradle my home. As a dedicated housewife, I take pride in nurturing my family and sharing the rich flavors of Guyanese cuisine, from spicy pepperpot to sweet cassava pudding. Our culture is vibrant, steeped in a history that intertwines Indigenous, African, East Indian, and European influences, resulting in a melting pot of traditions that I cherish and celebrate every day.

Living in this beautiful part of Guyana, I’m surrounded by the tranquility of the Pomeroon River and the warmth of our close-knit community. The tales of our ancestors echo through the towering palms and gentle breezes, reminding me of the resilience and spirit of our people. I often reflect on the comments shared by our diasporaβ€”many who yearn to return home and witness firsthand the natural beauty and cultural richness of our land, despite the challenges we face. It's encouraging to see an increased awareness of our struggles and triumphs, as my fellow Guyanese around the world work towards clean and honest representation of our beloved country.

Though geographically positioned in South America, our heart beats firmly in the Caribbean. I take great pride in being part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and embrace the connections we share with our brothers and sisters across the region. Whether it’s through local festivals, fishing trips on the Pomeroon River, or simply gathering for a meal, the essence of Guyana lives on in every moment. Join me as I continue to share our story and spread the love for our roots, culture, and the hopeful future of our nation.
