Greetings! My name is Nadira Persaud, and I proudly hail from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, particularly from the vibrant community of 13 Sea Road Reliance in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rhythmic sounds of the Pomeroon River, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. Whether it’s savouring a plate of pepper pot or indulging in some fresh fish curry, my love for our traditional dishes runs deep. I often reminisce about family gatherings where laughter fills the air and the aroma of our local cuisine invites everyone to the table.
As a babysitter, I bring the same warmth and nurturing spirit that is a hallmark of our Guyanese culture into my work with children. I believe in fostering a loving environment where kids can thrive, learn, and have fun. Every day, I strive to integrate playful learning with cultural lessons, teaching the little ones about our customs, stories, and, of course, our favorite snacks like bakes and saltfish! My goal is to ensure that they not only feel cared for but also proud of their heritage.
Having lived in various places, including Brooklyn, I understand the importance of community and connection. I often hear from fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, like the excitement of weekend meals that remind us of home or the pride we feel when celebrating our culture, no matter where we are. I’m thrilled to carry a piece of Guyana with me wherever I go and to share that with the next generation, ensuring that our vibrant traditions continue to flourish.
