Greetings! My name is Nafeeza Rahaman, and I proudly reside in the heart of Essequibo, along the Old Road in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of this beautiful area has deeply influenced my life and work. From savoring the rich flavors of pepperpot during family gatherings to sharing stories under the stars with neighbors, my roots are firmly planted in the warmth and hospitality that define our culture.
As a resident of Guyana, I have witnessed the changes our beloved land is experiencing, especially with the surge of interest from tourists following our oil boom. It’s both exciting and challenging, as many of us navigate these new dynamics while holding onto the traditions that make our country unique.
