Greetings! My name is Naleni George, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast Compound Capoey in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this beautiful country, I am deeply influenced by our rich heritage that embraces diversity. Whether it’s the aroma of a delicious pepperpot wafting through the air during family gatherings or the sound of steelpan music filling the night during festivals, these experiences shape who I am and remind me of the warmth of my community.
As a resident of Essequibo, I cherish the unique aspects of Guyanese life and the connection we share with our diaspora. I often reflect on comments from fellow Guyanese abroad who reminisce about our stunning rivers, such as the Pomeroon, and the beauty of our landscapes. I believe it’s important for the next generation to appreciate our roots and strive for a better future.
