Hello! I’m Nalini Persaud, a proud resident of the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically 25 Lima New Housing in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My heart belongs to Guyana, a vibrant land filled with lush rainforests, the majestic Essequibo River, and a rich cultural heritage that is as diverse as its people. I often reminisce about the sounds of the accordion echoing through our celebrations, the flavors of pepperpot and roti at family gatherings, and the warmth of our community that remains strong, even across borders.
Though I now navigate life here in the diaspora, the love for my homeland is ever-present. I cherish the connections with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s sharing a laugh about the pronunciation of Essequibo or reminiscing about our favorite local spots. The essence of Guyana is embedded in my identity, and I make it a point to engage with our culture, from listening to traditional music to staying informed about our community’s developments back home.
As I continue to build my life here, I strive to uphold the spirit of what it means to be Guyanese. I believe in the power of connection and sharing our stories, whether it’s through celebrating our festivals, enjoying a good meal, or simply supporting one another.
