Hello! I’m (NAME ON FILE) Chand, a farmer from the picturesque community of Essequibo Maripa on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush greenery and vibrant rivers tell the story of my ancestors. I spend my days cultivating the rich soil and growing some of the finest produce, including the famous local bananas that my neighbors and I fondly refer to as "River Grant good banana." There's nothing quite like sharing a meal made with fresh ingredients from our very own backyards, especially during our lively community gatherings.
Living in Essequibo allows me to appreciate the unique beauty of Guyana, from the charming wooden houses of Georgetown to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River. While I enjoy visiting places abroad, there’s a special connection to home that can’t be replaced. I often hear laughter about how we pronounce our local river names, and it brings me joy to see our culture celebrated, whether you're here or in the diaspora. We may joke about the differences, but at the end of the day, we all share a love for our homeland and its rich heritage.
