Hello! My name is Chanderban, and I proudly call the Essequibo 1769 New Housing Scheme home. As a labourer, I have deep roots in my community and a commitment to contributing to its growth. The vibrant spirit of Guyana fills my days, from the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon region to the lively markets where you can find our delicious local cuisine, like pepperpot and roti. I often reminisce about the rich flavors and diverse food culture we share, which brings people together, whether it's a family gathering or a community celebration.
Growing up in Guyana means being a part of a mosaic of cultures, where Indian, African, Amerindian, and European influences blend seamlessly. The Little Guyana neighborhood is a favorite spot of mine; it’s where our diaspora connects over shared memories and cultural pride. I appreciate the laughter and stories exchanged at local eateries, where spices sing and every meal is a reminder of home. Even though some folks might tease about our musical influences, I stand firm in the belief that our chutney and folklore have their own unique place in the Caribbean rhythm.
Whether I'm sharing tales of the stunning Essequibo River or enjoying the warmth of community gatherings, I'm proud to represent my Guyanese heritage.
