Greetings! I’m Dianand, a proud logger from the serene Left Bank Upper in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My work takes me deep into the lush forests of our beautiful country, where I’ve developed a profound respect for the land and its resources. Growing up in this vibrant region, I’ve been fortunate to experience firsthand the rich cultural heritage that defines us Guyanese—whether it’s the delightful aroma of pepperpot simmering on the stove during the holidays or the excitement of playing cricket with friends in the community.
Guyana is a melting pot of cultures, from our East Indian roots to the influences of our African, Chinese, Portuguese, and Indigenous peoples. This diversity shapes our daily lives and is reflected in the delicious variety of dishes we enjoy. As someone who has had the joy of connecting with the diaspora, I cherish the stories shared over a plate of dhal puri or a bowl of black cake, reminding us that no matter where we are in the world, we carry a piece of Guyana in our hearts.
