About (NAME ON FILE) LOCHAN

About Me

Hello! I’m (NAME ON FILE) Lochan, a proud farmer residing in the heart of the Essequibo River, specifically in Lower Bonasika, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots here run deep, just like the flowing waters of our cherished Pomeroon River. Every day, I rise with the sun, tending to my crops while soaking in the beauty of our lush landscapes and vibrant community. Whether it’s planting rice or harvesting cassava, farming is not just my livelihood; it's a way for me to connect with the land that has nurtured generations of my family.

Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always had a love for our rich culinary traditions. From the delectable pepperpot to the sweet, fragrant coconut drops, every meal tells a story of our diverse heritage. I love sharing these flavors with friends and family, especially those in the diaspora who reminisce about the tastes of home. The warmth of our community, whether gathered at a local “cook-up” or celebrating festivals like Mashramani, keeps me grounded and proud of my identity.

Though I have my feet firmly planted in the soil of Essequibo, I cherish the connections I’ve made with fellow Guyanese around the world. Through social media and community gatherings, I often hear echoes of familiar places: from Pom River to St. Monica. These bonds remind me of our shared history and resilience, and I look forward to nurturing these connections while cultivating a sustainable future for our beloved land.
