Hello! I’m NAME ON FILE Sookram, a proud labourer from the vibrant East Bank Essequibo, specifically Parika, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up here, I’ve always found joy in the simplicity of everyday life—whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot on Christmas morning or taking a leisurely stroll along the riverbanks where the mangroves stand tall.
Family and community are central to who I am. Like many in the diaspora, I cherish the stories and traditions passed down through generations. Whether it’s lively discussions about cricket or the unique pronunciations of our local rivers—Upper Pom, TWI, and Karawab—I love celebrating our culture. Nothing brings us together quite like a good cook-up rice or a family gathering under the bright Guyanese sun.
Though I now live far from home, the spirit of Guyana is always with me. I aspire to carry our heritage forward, sharing our incredible landscapes and diverse culture with those around me.
