Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Sukha, a carpenter based in the beautiful Essequibo region, specifically Parika on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I take great pride in my roots. My craft is influenced by the unique architecture found in our local homes, from the traditional wooden houses by the rivers to the modern structures that are starting to emerge. Each nail and board I work with carries a piece of our culture, and I strive to incorporate that into every project I undertake.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the flavors of our homeland—from the rich, spicy curries to the sweet and succulent treats like guava cheese and coconut drops. There's nothing quite like sitting down with family and friends over a hearty meal, sharing stories and laughter. I also have a deep appreciation for our stunning natural beauty, whether it's the calm waters of the Essequibo River or the vibrant markets in Georgetown. These elements serve as constant inspiration in my life and work.
Having spent some time abroad in the diaspora, I understand the longing for home that many feel. I connect with my fellow Guyanese through our shared experiences and the common love for our culture, no matter where we are.
