Hello! I’m Nandalal Dwarka, a proud Guyanese currently residing in Regina Essequibo Coast, at 91 Henrietta Anna in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a security guard, I take pride in safeguarding my community while sharing the vibrancy of our culture with everyone I meet. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been fortunate to experience the rich diversity of our people, from the bustling markets of Georgetown to the stunning landscapes of the Rupununi savannahs.
Guyana is a place where the flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot linger in the air, and the sound of steelpan music brings communities together. We have a unique blend of cultures that reflects our history, and I cherish those connections with my Indo-Guyanese heritage. Whether it's enjoying a meal with family or taking part in local festivities like Mashramani, I find joy in our traditions and the warmth of our people. Although there are challenges back home, like the impact of our economic struggles and the struggles our youth face, I remain hopeful and committed to fostering a positive environment for future generations.
As an active member of the diaspora, I connect with others who share my love for Guyana, whether they are in the Caribbean or beyond. I often hear comments highlighting how misunderstood our country is, but I choose to focus on the beauty of our landscape and the resilience of our spirit.
