Hello! My name is Naomi Boyan, and I’m a dedicated teacher based in the beautiful River Borada Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has shaped my love for education and my commitment to nurturing the minds of our youth. The vibrant culture and rich history of our nation inspire me every day—whether it’s sharing stories of our diverse heritage or celebrating the flavors of our delicious local cuisine, from pepperpot to metemgee.
As a proud Guyanese, I value the unique blend of cultures that make up our identity. With influences from Indigenous peoples, Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, and the many other communities that call our land home, I strive to teach my students about the significance of our diversity. I often draw parallels between our rich tapestry of traditions and the experiences of the diaspora; it's fascinating to see how our stories resonate with Guyanese living abroad. I believe that understanding our roots helps us build a brighter future together.
In addition to my teaching, I enjoy exploring the natural beauty of Guyana, from the lush rainforests to the breathtaking waterfalls. I cherish moments spent with family and friends, sharing laughs over delicious meals and enjoying the rhythm of our local music.
