Hello! Iām Naomi Persaud, a passionate teacher residing in the beautiful Essequibo region of Guyana, specifically in Princeville Mainstay. Growing up in a country marked by its rich blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Portuguese influences, I frequently incorporate our culinary delights into my lessons. Whether it's the tantalizing taste of pepperpot, the sweet treat of whitey ice cream bean, or the joy of celebrating Mashramani, I ensure my students appreciate the flavors of our culture. As someone with Ameri-Indian roots, I take pride in sharing our unique history and the stories that connect us to our diaspora in the USA, Canada, and the UK.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring local landmarks, from the stunning landscapes of the Rupununi savannahs to the bustling streets of Georgetown. I cherish the vibrant community spirit that defines us as Guyanese, whether we are celebrating the New Year with joyous festivities or simply enjoying a meal together. I hope to inspire my students not only to learn but also to take pride in our homeland, as we grow together in knowledge and cultural appreciation.
