Greetings! My name is Narda Kayum, and I proudly call Essequibo 42A Block 8 in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has deeply influenced my identity. From the sweet aroma of a freshly cooked plate of cook-up rice to the laughter echoing at the local cricket matches, my life is steeped in the rich traditions of our culture. I cherish moments spent enjoying spicy pepperpot during Christmas, where family and friends gather to celebrate our unity and heritage.
As a resident of Guyana, I take pride in sharing our unique story—one that often gets confused with our African counterpart, Ghana! It's always amusing to hear people mispronounce our beautiful country's name, and I find joy in educating others about our diverse cultures and the significance of our place in the Caribbean community. The essence of our land is not just in its stunning landscapes but also in the warmth of its people, who are always ready to lend a hand or share a hearty laugh.
