Hello! Iām Nathan Forde, a proud resident of West Coast Demerara, specifically from the vibrant Sera Lodge Housing community. Growing up in this beautiful part of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara has deeply influenced my love for our unique culture and rich heritage. Whether it's sharing a plate of flavorful aloo pie at the roadside or enjoying the lively atmosphere during our local festivals, I embrace every aspect of what it means to be Guyanese. The warmth of our people and the delicious taste of our food are second to none!
Having spent much of my life here, I've developed a deep appreciation for our natural beauty, from the lush greenery of the Essequibo River to the serene beaches that we often visit on weekends. It's in these moments, surrounded by family and friends, that I feel most connected to my roots. I often reflect on the comments made by our diaspora; the pride they express for our homeland resonates with me, especially when they highlight our distinctive culinary delights like doubles and bara, even if the opinions on how they should look can spark a good debate!
As I continue to build my life here, Iām committed to fostering connections within our community and beyond. I believe that no matter where we are in the world, the spirit of Guyana lives in all of us. Whether you're a fellow Guyanese or someone interested in our culture, I welcome you to join me in celebrating the richness of our heritage and the stories that shape who we are.
