Greetings! My name is Navica Chaitram, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically from the Old Road Bush Lot area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in the lush landscapes of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture and rich history. From the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River to the bustling markets filled with fresh, locally-grown produce, each aspect of my surroundings reflects the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a child of this beautiful land, I have fond memories of enjoying traditional dishes such as pepperpot and metemgee, often shared in gatherings with family and friends. I take pride in our unique blend of cultures, where Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous traditions come together to create a community that celebrates diversity. Whether it's the sounds of Bhojpuri songs in the air or the aroma of freshly fried cook-up rice wafting from kitchens, these experiences are what shape my identity.
Though I reside in Guyana, I maintain a strong connection with the diaspora, particularly with fellow Guyanese spread across the globe. I believe that no matter where we are, we carry a piece of our homeland with us, from the sweet call of the Lower Pom River to the rhythm of our local festivals. It's my hope that through sharing our stories and traditions, we continue to strengthen the bonds that unite us, no matter the distance.
