Welcome! My name is Navindra Bissoondyal, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the picturesque Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I find inspiration in the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that define our unique corner of Guyana. Though I understand the sentiments of many in the diaspora who reflect on the challenges of life back home, I believe that our resilience and rich traditions make this place special.
As a resident of Aurora, I enjoy the local flavors that our cuisine has to offer, despite the mixed reviews from friends abroad about some restaurants! Whether it's a hearty plate of pepperpot or a sweet treat of metemgee, food remains a crucial part of our identity. I cherish the moments spent with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter, especially during festivals like Mashramani, where our cultural heritage truly shines.
In my journey as a Guyanese, I also stay connected with our diaspora, where I see a blend of nostalgia and hope. It's important to share our experiences, whether they're about the stunning beauty of the Canje River or the challenges we face. I believe that, despite the hurdles, Guyana holds immense potential, and I am committed to contributing positively to our community, both here and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
