Hello! I'm Indira Persaud, a passionate teacher based on the beautiful Essequibo Coast, where the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region inspire my love for educating the next generation. Growing up in a country celebrated for its vibrant mix of cultures—from our Indo-Guyanese heritage to the rich influences of Amerindian and African traditions—I strive to incorporate these diverse perspectives into my classrooms, encouraging students to appreciate our unique identity.
Living in Aurora, I've had the pleasure of experiencing the warmth and hospitality that defines Guyanese culture. Whether it's sharing a plate of spicy cook-up rice or indulging in sweet, tangy pepperpot during family gatherings, food is a significant part of our community. My roots are deep in the rivers and settlements of our homeland, where stories of resilience and joy flow as freely as the mighty Essequibo. I also maintain a strong connection with the Guyanese diaspora, celebrating our culture and achievements together, even from afar.
