Hello! My name is Nirmal Gabriel, and I’m proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I’ve spent my life immersed in the vibrant culture of Guyana. From the lush landscapes to the lively streets of Georgetown, there's a warmth in our communities that reflects our diverse heritage. As a labourer, I contribute to the hard-working spirit of our people, often exchanging stories and laughter with my neighbors over a plate of pepperpot or some fresh cassava bread.
Growing up in Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our unique blend of cultures, languages, and traditions. It's always amusing to hear people mispronounce our names and places—like Gargetown, which brings a hearty laugh to my day! Being part of the diaspora means I cherish the connections we share, whether through food, music, or the memories of bustling markets filled with spices and fresh produce. There’s no better feeling than sharing a meal of roti and curry with friends, reminiscing about our roots while dreaming of the future.
As Guyana stands on the brink of becoming one of the richest countries in South America, I am excited about what lies ahead for us. While we face challenges, I remain hopeful and motivated by the resilience of my fellow Guyanese. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
