Hello! My name is Norma Beharry, and I am proud to call 16 Vergenoegen East in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a housewife, I find joy in nurturing my family and sharing the rich flavors of our Guyanese cuisine. From cook-ups to roti, I love to prepare meals that remind us of our heritage. Just like many in our diaspora, I often reminisce about the vibrant food stalls and the bustling atmosphere of places like the River GT Handover Square, where the aroma of spices fills the air and the community connects.
Living in such a beautiful region, I cherish the serenity of the Lower Pomeroon River and its surrounding islands. The lush landscapes and friendly neighbors bring a sense of belonging that is hard to find elsewhere. Many of us dream of returning to our homeland, sharing not just food, but also stories and laughter. It’s the laughter at our gatherings that truly makes me feel at home, and I carry this warmth with me wherever I go.
