Greetings! My name is Omawattie Bachan, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically the 38 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to inspire the next generation while cultivating a deep appreciation for our rich Guyanese heritage. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have always been enchanted by our natural beauty and cultural diversity. From the bustling markets filled with spices to the delicious aromas of cook-up rice and curry, these experiences shape my identity. I often find myself reminiscing about the spirited debates among our diaspora friends, like the eternal question of who has the best women, Trinidad or Guyana? It's moments like these that remind me of our lively discussions and the pride we hold for our homeland, even when we're thousands of miles away.
As I continue my journey as an educator, I remain committed to fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our culture for my students.
