Hello! I’m Orin Caesar, hailing from the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam in Guyana. My roots are deeply intertwined with the rich cultural tapestry of my homeland, characterized by the lush landscapes and the mighty Essequibo River. Growing up surrounded by the gentle hum of the river and the vibrant markets, I developed a passion for the unique flavors of our local cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet coconut bread that brings back fond memories of family gatherings.
As a proud Guyanese, I carry with me the stories and experiences of my community. While there are challenges, like the high suicide rates that have brought attention to the mental health issues we face, I believe in the resilience and strength of my people. The warmth of our gatherings, the sound of folk music, and the camaraderie found at the local rum shop remind me of the hope and joy that can be found amidst adversity. It’s essential to foster connections, especially within the diaspora, where we can share our experiences and support one another, whether it's through cultural celebrations or simply connecting online.
In my journey, I strive to uplift the voices of my fellow Guyanese, reminding us all that despite the challenges we face, we have much to be proud of.
