Hello! My name is Oswald Bishop, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the vibrant 93 Public Road in Walton, Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots are deeply entrenched in the fertile lands of Guyana, where the soil is rich and the community is warm. As a farmer, I dedicate my days to cultivating the land, growing everything from cassava to rice, and embracing the blessings that our natural resources provide. Living in this lush environment inspires me to preserve the traditional practices that have been passed down through generations.
Guyana's diverse culture is an integral part of my life. Whether it’s enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot or sharing stories about the adventures of our hardworking pork-knockers, like those brave souls who seek gold and diamonds in the wild, I cherish the unique experiences that define our nation. I often reminisce about the folk tales passed down through my family, especially the amusing stories of Tengar, which remind us of our rich oral traditions and the strength of our community. The connection I feel to my fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad, is a constant source of motivation as we share our experiences and support one another.
As I work on my farm, I always keep an eye on the horizon, inspired by the stories of those who have ventured beyond our borders and have made a name for themselves in the diaspora. The warmth and resilience of our people are evident wherever I go, and it fills me with pride to be part of such a vibrant heritage. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
