Hello! My name is Outar Persaud, and I proudly call the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush rainforest and vibrant rivers, I developed a deep appreciation for our natural beauty, from the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls to the tranquil waters of Mainstay Lake. Guyana is more than just a place to me; it’s a canvas painted with rich history, diverse cultures, and the warmth of our people. There's nothing quite like the flavors of our local cuisine, whether it’s savoring a plate of pepperpot or enjoying fresh fish caught right from the Essequibo River.
As a resident, I understand the pride we have in overcoming challenges and celebrating our achievements, big and small. It’s important that those who visit our country recognize its potential and the resilience of its people. In the words of many Guyanese, "nobody talks bad about my country,” and we stand together to defend our heritage and identity. I truly believe that every visit to Guyana opens a door to understanding our unique blend of cultures and traditions, especially when it comes to our community gatherings filled with music, laughter, and delicious food.
Although I may now reside elsewhere, my heart remains in Guyana. I cherish the connections I’ve built within the diaspora and the stories we share from our homeland. Whether it's planning a visit back home or sharing a meal with friends here, I carry a piece of Guyana with me everywhere I go. One love!
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
