Hello! I’m Ovid Roberts, a proud farmer from the River Mora Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of my homeland, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich agricultural traditions passed down through generations. Whether it’s cultivating rice or tending to my vegetable garden, every harvest reminds me of the unity and resilience inherent in our communities.
My roots run deep in this beautiful land, rich with Indian, African, Portuguese, and Indigenous influences. My kitchen is a reflection of this diversity, where the aromas of curry, cook-up rice, and metemgee fill the air. I often think of my family gatherings, where we share not just meals but stories that connect us to our ancestors and to each other. And while I may be a bit more Americanized now, I never miss a chance to savor the traditional dishes that remind me of home.
