About PADMINI DEVI MANGRA

About Padmini Mangra

Welcome! My name is Padmini Mangra, and I proudly call the vibrant community of De Willem on the West Coast of Demerara my home. Nestled between the lush greenery and the mighty Essequibo River, my life is enriched by the cultural tapestry of Guyana, where every meal is an adventure, and every gathering is a celebration. From savoring the spicy nuances of curry to the sweet delights of fresh coconut turnovers, my passion for our local cuisine is as deep as the waters of the river that flows nearby, often mysteriously dark yet teeming with life.

Having grown up in this diverse land where the sounds of the tassa drums and the melodies of the accordion fill the air, I carry a piece of Guyana with me wherever I go. Though I might be half a world away at times, the rhythm of our cultural heritage keeps me grounded. I often take a moment to reminisce about the vibrant streets of Georgetown and the majestic Kaieteur Falls, where nature’s brilliance shines in every drop of water. Just like the stories shared within our diaspora, I find joy in connecting with others who share my love for our homeland.

As a resident of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I am committed to promoting our local culture and heritage. Whether through engaging conversations about our history or exploring the beautiful landscapes that define our nation, I invite you to join me in celebrating the spirit of Guyana. One day, let’s catch up over a hearty meal or perhaps a shared laugh about the unique pronunciations of our beloved places—like “Kai-chore” instead of "kai-tor-falls." Together, we can cherish our roots and keep the Guyanese spirit alive!
