About RICHARD SISNARAIN MANGRA

About Richard Mangra

Hello! My name is Richard Mangra, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. As a farmer, I have a deep connection to the land and cherish the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana. From cultivating rice and cassava to growing fresh produce, I strive to contribute to our local economy and ensure that the flavors of our beloved cuisine—like pepperpot and cook-up rice—are celebrated both locally and abroad.

Living in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I've witnessed the vibrant blend of cultures that makes Guyana unique. Our communities are a melting pot, with influences from Indian, African, European, and Indigenous peoples, alongside our neighbors from Brazil and Venezuela. It's not uncommon to hear a mix of languages like English, Hindi, and Creole in daily conversations, and we take pride in our diverse heritage. When I'm not working on the farm, you can find me enjoying the scenic beauty of our region, perhaps fishing along the Pomeroon River or celebrating festivals that bring us all together.

As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I value the connections we share, whether near or far. From the bustling streets of Georgetown to the warmth of communities across the globe, I believe that our resilience and spirit shine through. So wherever you are, if you feel a piece of Guyana in your heart, know that we made it together, and the journey is just as important as the destination!
