About PAMELA SHARON SMITH

About Pamela Smith

Hello! My name is Pamela Smith, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast of Guyana my home. Nestled along the lush, vibrant banks of the Pomeroon River, this picturesque area is not just where I live; it’s a vital part of who I am. As a housewife, I embrace the warmth of our local culture, where family gatherings often revolve around the delicious flavors of Guyanese cuisine—think fresh fish curry, pepperpot, and the sweet, comforting aroma of homemade coconut bread. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal with loved ones while reminiscing about the beauty of our homeland.

Growing up near landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the serene Essequibo River, I've developed a deep appreciation for the natural wonders that surround us. I understand the unique challenges our communities face, but I also know the strength of our people. Guyanese are resilient, often coming together to celebrate our rich Caribbean heritage, whether it's during Mashramani or sharing stories about our ancestors who made the journey from various parts of the world to call this beautiful land home.

As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we share, both locally and abroad. Though some may view Georgetown as "dire," I believe that the truly special places in Guyana are often found off the beaten path, revealing themselves to those who are willing to explore. From the back canals of Pom River to the hidden gems of our vibrant communities, my mission is to celebrate and uplift the essence of Guyanese life while encouraging others to discover the warmth and hospitality that define our culture.
