Hello! I’m Parbatti Gopaul, a proud resident of Coast Demerara, specifically on 145 Third Street East in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Guyana has deeply influenced who I am today. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot simmering on the stove to the lively sounds of soca and chutney music during our festivals, my life here is filled with the traditions and flavors that connect us to our roots.
As someone who embraces the unique blend of cultures in Guyana, I cherish the warmth of our community. Whether it’s gathering with friends for a delicious meal of cook-up rice or enjoying the serene beauty of the Lower Pom River, these moments remind me of the strength and unity we share. I often think of my fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, who carry a piece of our homeland wherever they go, often reminiscing about our beloved landmarks and the stories behind them.
My goal is to foster connections both locally and globally, celebrating our diverse lineage, including the nine Indigenous tribes, such as the Arawaks and Caribs, that have shaped our nation’s history.
