Greetings! I’m Parman Mohabir, a proud forest ranger based on the picturesque Essequibo Coast, specifically at 99 Market Street in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich biodiversity and the importance of preserving our natural heritage. The vibrant wooden houses in Georgetown, the warmth of our communities, and the rich flavors of our local cuisine—like pepperpot and roti—have shaped my identity and my work.
In my role, I strive to protect our forests and educate others about the critical balance between development and nature. While the economy is booming with new construction and foreign investment, I believe it is essential to prioritize sustainable practices that benefit all Guyanese, not just a select few. Like many of us, I am concerned about the rapid changes and the impact they have on our youth. It's crucial that we come together as a community to ensure that progress does not come at the expense of our rich cultural and environmental legacy.
As someone who has lived and worked here, I understand the challenges that our people face, from economic disparities to the erosion of our natural spaces.
