Hello! My name is Paul Benn, and I proudly call Pomeroon, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a dedicated labourer, I spend my days working hard to support my community and family. The Pomeroon River, with its lush banks and rich biodiversity, is not just a backdrop to my life but a vital part of who I am. I often find myself reflecting on the vibrant spirit of our settlement, where every day holds the promise of connection and camaraderie with my neighbours.
Growing up here, I developed a deep appreciation for our local culture, especially our delectable cuisine. There's nothing quite like sharing a plate of pepperpot or a steaming bowl of metemgee with family and friends. I also enjoy celebrating our rich heritage, whether it's through local festivals or simply reminiscing about the good times spent at the Karawab Mission. The flavours and traditions of our community are a part of my identity, and I strive to carry them forward in everything I do.
Through my experiences, I've come to understand the importance of connection, not just within our borders but also with the wider Guyanese diaspora. I cherish the stories shared by those who have ventured far beyond our shores, like those who reminisce about River Hoobodie Settlement or the Pomeroon River. Each tale reminds me of the resilience and spirit of our people. Together, we celebrate our heritage and look forward to a bright future.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
