Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Peter Aaron, and I proudly call 3 L'Oratoire Canal No 1, Essequibo Islands-West Demerara my home. As a labourer, I work hard to support my family and contribute to our vibrant community. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and heritage, from the serene banks of the Essequibo River to the mouth-watering aromas of curry chicken and roti wafting through the air.
Food is a vital part of our culture, and I believe there's nothing quite like sharing a plate of pepper pot or a hearty meal of rice and peas with loved ones. The camaraderie at the lunch table is something special, and it reminds me of our deep-rooted connections to each other and to our ancestors. Whether it's a family gathering or an impromptu cookout with friends, the joy of eating together captures the essence of being Guyanese.
Though I may be rooted in Essequibo, I cherish the strong ties we have with our diaspora around the world. I often connect with fellow Guyanese who share our unique experiences and stories, from the lively streets of Georgetown to the quiet nooks of London or New York. Our voices may echo differently across the globe, but the heart of our culture remains vibrant and alive, wherever we are.
