Hello! I’m Phinella Chattergoon, a proud resident of Dunkeld on the Essequibo Coast. Living in this vibrant community allows me to embrace the rich cultural diversity that Guyana offers—where the rhythms of our Afro-Guyanese heritage blend seamlessly with the traditions of our Amerindian and Indo-Guyanese brothers and sisters. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a plate of pepperpot or some fresh catch from the Pomeroon River, sharing stories with neighbors and visitors alike, and celebrating our local festivals like Mashramani.
My life here on the Essequibo Coast is all about connection—whether it's through the lush landscapes we call home or the lively conversations that fill the streets. As an active member of my community, I cherish the warmth of our gatherings, whether by the riverbank or at local events where we celebrate our shared history. I also like to connect with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, celebrating our achievements and keeping our culture alive through food, music, and stories, like those we reminisce about from our childhoods.
