Hello! My name is Praim Narayan, and I’m proud to call Essequibo Coast my home, specifically from the vibrant 47 Factory Dam in Johanna, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a mechanic, I enjoy working on all kinds of vehicles, ensuring they run smoothly for the hardworking folks in our community. The camaraderie among local mechanics and tradespeople keeps our spirits high, as we share stories and experiences while sipping on a cool bottle of Shandy while enjoying some pepperpot or a plate of curry with rice.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the rich diversity of our culture. Whether it's the aromatic spices from our Indian heritage, the rhythms of calypso music echoing during festivities, or the laughter shared at the riverbanks during a family gathering, these elements shape my identity. I often reminisce about our local landmarks, like the majestic Pomeroon River, where many of us gather to unwind and connect with nature. The stories of our ancestors—be they of African, East Indian, or Indigenous descent—serve as a constant reminder of our shared history and resilience.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the challenges faced by many who migrate in search of better opportunities. While I appreciate the journey that leads some of my peers abroad, I remain committed to my roots and my community. I believe in the potential of our people and the beauty of our land, and I take pride in contributing to the growth and development of Essequibo Coast. We are more than just a small country; we carry the spirit of our ancestors with us, and I strive to embody that in my everyday life.
