Greetings! My name is Rabindra Persaud, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the Richmond Housing area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here has given me a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, from the vibrant festivals celebrating our diverse backgrounds to the mouthwatering flavors of local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice. My journey has taken me from the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the bustling markets of Georgetown, where the warmth of our people is palpable.
As a resident of this beautiful country, I am keenly aware of the connections we share with the Guyanese diaspora. Many of us carry the stories and traditions of our ancestors, whether it be the soulful music of our communities or the tales of life along the Lower Pom River Yacouri Settlement. These cultural ties are what keep us grounded, no matter where we find ourselves in the world.
