Born and raised in the vibrant community of Richmond Lima Sands along the stunning Essequibo Coast, I take immense pride in my Guyanese heritage. Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for the simplicity and richness of life here, from the aroma of fresh pepperpot simmering on the stove to the sweet taste of ripe pomerac during the harvest season. Being a mechanic by trade, I find joy in not just fixing vehicles but also in connecting with the people and stories that drive our community forward.
As a proud member of the diaspora, I cherish the relationships we've built, whether it’s sharing a laugh over a cricket match or reminiscing about the unique flavors of our local dishes. I often reflect on the significant contributions of Guyanese like our esteemed deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and the many cricketers who have put us on the world stage. Each moment spent with family and friends, whether at a neighborhood gathering or enjoying a lively discussion about our culture, reminds me of the values I carry with me, making me who I am today.
Though I reside in Canada now, my heart remains rooted in Guyana.
