Greetings from Hall Essequibo Coast! My name is Rajesh Persaud, and I proudly call the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a labourer, I find joy in the hard work that sustains my community and supports my family. Guyana, with its rich cultural heritage, from the sweet sounds of chutney music to the aroma of pepperpot and roti wafting through the air, has shaped my identity deeply. I cherish the moments spent sharing meals with family and friends, where stories of the past and dreams for the future are shared over laughter and rum punch.
Living here, I often reflect on how our beautiful country, nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the vast Amazon, is a melting pot of cultures. We are a people steeped in a unique blend of influences—Indigenous, African, Indian, and European. This diversity is not just a backdrop; it is a part of our everyday life.
