Greetings! My name is Ram Balram, and I proudly call 1 Orangestein, East Bank Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a porter, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with people from all walks of life, sharing stories and experiences that reflect our unique Guyanese spirit. I take pride in my work, ensuring that every item I handle is treated with care, much like our beloved cassava bread is crafted with love in our kitchens.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always felt a deep connection to our vibrant culture, from the rhythms of chutney music that bring our communities together, to the rich flavors of pepperpot and metemgee that define our culinary heritage. Whether it’s enjoying a cricket match at the local ground or participating in the annual Mashramani celebrations, I cherish the shared moments that unite us as a people, both here and in the diaspora. As @Ghostglock12 aptly put it, "I love Guyana!" and I strive to carry that love into everything I do.
My journey as a porter has also allowed me to meet fellow Guyanese and learn about their experiences and aspirations, reminding me that despite the challenges we face—like the widening gap between the rich and poor, as noted by others in our community—we are resilient and full of hope. I look forward to continuing to serve my community and fostering connections that can help elevate all our lives.
