Greetings! My name is Ramchand Habimanie, and I proudly call River Good Hope in the Demerara region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up by the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, I have always been surrounded by the rich cultural heritage that defines our beautiful Guyana. From the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce to the aroma of spicy curry chicken wafting through the air, my upbringing has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local dishes and the stories they tell. Whether it's enjoying a meal of roti and dhal at a family gathering or sharing a cup of ginger beer with friends, these experiences are what truly connect me to my roots.
As a resident of the Diaspora community now living abroad, I often reminisce about the lush landscapes of Guyana, where landmarks such as the Massarie Island evoke fond memories of my childhood adventures. I often find solace in connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, sharing tales of home, and advocating for the unique aspects of our culture, from our diverse culinary traditions to the lively festivities that bring us together. While I may be miles away from the Lower Pomeroon River, the spirit of my homeland is ever-present in my heart.
