About RAMPERSAUD SUKDIO

About Rampersaud Sukdio

Hello! I’m Rampersaud Sukdio, a proud farmer from the Essequibo Coast, specifically 65 Dutch Quarter in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My life revolves around the bountiful lands of Guyana, where I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect our rich agricultural heritage. From cassava to plantains, every harvest tells a storyβ€”one that is deeply rooted in our traditions and the vibrant culture of our community.

Living in Guyana means being part of a diverse tapestry of cultures and influences. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or gathering with family and friends to feel the rhythm of our folk music, I cherish these moments that connect us to our roots. As a second-generation Guyanese-American, I often share stories of my homeland with friends overseas, who are sometimes surprised to learn about our unique identity that stands apart from the Caribbean. Despite the misconceptions, I proudly represent my heritage and the beauty of our landscapes, from the mighty Essequibo River to the stunning waterfalls that attract visitors and locals alike.

As we navigate through challenges, such as the rising health issues and the evolving infrastructure from the oil boom, I remain optimistic about the future of our beloved Guyana. I believe that with collective effort, we can foster growth that not only enriches our economy but also preserves the essence of what it means to be Guyanese. I invite you to join me in celebrating our culture, exploring our beautiful land, and nurturing our community for generations to come.
